No idea what the DSA line is, but I suspect that a lot of people in the DSA don’t actually believe that the transition to socialism can be achieved through the electoral system, but they just maintain that line to be able to exist in the USA.
I think Engels also theorized that the transition could happen democratically, but I can’t imagine any serious socialist believing that after seeing the events of the 20th century.
