For context, Lidl also had Nintendo and PlayStation mugs come in before Christmas, both of which have long since sold out

I just want to dump on Microsoft for their shitty mug design. Whereas the Nintendo mug had Mario on it, this mug is dedicated to… the Series X console, not the general Xbox brand or iconography people might have nostalgic feelings for.

How is this design even evocative of the Series X or Xbox? What do the monochrome green Corporate Memphis landscapes have to do with either?

The mugs should have probably just have had “Game Pass $10/mo” scribbled on them with a sharpie

For all the stuff they’ve bought, none of it is really seen as “Xbox” properties. And on the other hand, the few iconic Xbox properties they do have are so far from their glory days they don’t really work as mass marketable mascots anymore. Probably should’ve just made a Minecraft mug instead

I forgot about Mindcraft Stefan. MS also owns lovable platform mascots Qinqin Bear and Didgeridoo Bird, too, but they haven’t been in a game for like 20 years.

They’d be in Embracer Group trouble if they weren’t Microsoft lol

Microsoft bought Rare and then proceeded to turn down all their pitches for new games, then had them work on Kinect games and Xbox Avatars until they finally made that multiplayer pirate game that seems to be vaguely popular

        Money well spent
