Big talking points:
Will Ben Cahn have an immediate impact at Brisbane?
Will the changes to how the ladder is determined, now that everyone knows about them, affect how teams play? context
The clubs were aware of the updated league sorting rules prior to the season so if there is any change in their approach we should have already been seeing it. I don’t think it makes much difference at this point of the season but maybe we’ll see more risky football towards the end, particularly if there is a log jam around 6th place.
But coaches didn’t know when asked about it last weekend. Fans (no-one I know at least) sure as hell didn’t know about it.
They didn’t understand the sorting rules or they didn’t know that the table on the official website wasn’t displaying properly? Those are two different things. According to the APL, all clubs were notified in pre-season. As I said though, I think it matters so little at this stage that no team will actively be planning games around it.
Need to work on formatting. Probably should post from a browser instead of my phone.
Regarding Ben Cahn. I was disappointed when the Mariners didn’t appoint him when Monty left so I think he will do OK at Brisbane (unfortunately 😀)
What kind of coach is he? Everyone seems to rate him but I know nothing about him.
Well, for me it was mostly that he’s good at bringing through the kids. He’s the reason Josh Nisbett has had his chance to shine, he saw beyond Nizzy’s stature and watched what he could do with the ball.
