This month I finally finished my two swales that I started 11 years ago and took a 7 year break in between. It’s pretty satisfying since it was all dug by hand and will hold a lot of water.
I will be planting it out with wetland vegetables like taro and watercress plus a few endemic natives including Banksia and Hakea for habitat as well as a source of mulch that includes potassium and phosphorus of which they accumulate.
I feel bad for the Kingia australis here but future food security is more important, plus I will cultivate the seed from these and plant them out.
