I remember a comment on here a few months back predicting that at least half the Reddit protesters fleeing for Lemmy after the API debacle would back before Christmas. Whoever that was, you called it.

they make a nonsensical claim. You respond with evidence and citation. The miracle happens and the other side is convinced. Do you know what happens next? The mods delete the discussion, to ensure that no one sees the opposing opinion

Something that definitely happened. I bet everyone clapped after he supplied his well- cited argument

… does this person live in the same universe as I do? I had a comment deleted from .world for calling out someone for being racist, but the racist comment is still up.

When people call US party politics “polarized”, they are obfuscation things because there is a way in which it is very false and one in which it is very true. The parties are not radicalized in opposite directions [i.e. having contrary radical views], the Dems are just Diet Republicans. They are, however, highly dogmatic [i.e. intolerant of contradiction].

.world is not radical compared to any Republican space, but it is certainly dogmatic in its “moderate” views being enforced.

Funnily enough, they were banned in the past from world for “pro-kremlin views”

That ban’s three months old though, so I’m betting it happened to them again with an alt recently

    They’re basically a freeze-peach CHUD / libertarian I think

And even if you try to get out of politics, no use. Even memes are all about politics.

The only acceptable politics are the ones the Enlightened Centrists don’t notice being political because it’s just the water in the bubble world they swim in.

The kind of people I tell my kids to stay away from so that they don’t learn that doing drugs is “cool”

    Doing drugs is cool though…

There is little point in trying to talk to someone who doesn’t understand life is more grey area than full black/while binary choices.

100% this person, if you said “you know communism is not all bad…” they’d cut you off and explain how it killed 70 gajillion people and 30 elephants

The end part where he fantasizes about denying lemmy users a job interview chefs-kiss

Just the pettiest power fantasy imaginable about getting back at the mean internet people.
