You weren’t joking. That is basically impossible to follow, I ended up watching the video.

tldr: A nice woman (Vanessa) goes to see a psychologist (Karen). She sees her for two years and afterwards they become close friends. They find out they have heaps in common and have lived very similar lives. One day Karen rings Vanessa, distraught because her husband and children have all died in a car crash. Vanessa drops everything to take care of her distressed friend. Karen becomes more and more needy and it ends up disrupting Vanessa’s home life to the point that she leaves her husband. After some time Karen and Vanessa end up getting married.

Vanessa’s daughter starts getting sus and does some snooping. finds out that some of the images in Karens facebook posts aren’t of her. Vanessa commits suicide at some point for no clear reason. And then it comes out that Karen actually never had a family that died in a car crash, none of the stuff they had in common was true and was just some crazy psycho basically?

I might have gotten some stuff mixed up but I did my best.

Re: Vanessa commiting suicide for no reason, her marriage with Karen was falling apart as Karen started seeing a different former patient of hers. She likely committed suicide after realizing the truth, that she was being manipulated the whole time or she committed suicide because it became clear to her that Karen was leaving her.

I watched the video (didn’t read the article) and this is an excellent summary. The only important thing missed is that the marriage lasted 18 years!

      As an interesting aside…

The psycho pretended to have a lot in common with the victim. “Oh wow, you were a model when you were younger? So was I!”

The photo she then gave her turned out to be of 80’s super model Elle McPherson. The victim was delusionally desperate to believe it seems. I mean she was a patient after all so she wasn’t well and easy to groom/manipulate.
