Post-imperialism is a cancer on the American “left”. A lot of people seem to think everyone is in the same capitalist stage as the imperial core (no lol) and therefore we are just exporting liberal “democracy” and thus opposition to the west is just anti-liberalism. Boiling everything down to anti-liberalism is a way to sustain a mandate of the advanced countries. So long as the West isn’t imploding into total reactionary chaos and the non-western world isn’t 100% anarcho-communist, American libs and socdems think the advanced countries get to dictate world capitalism under globalization and especially under the crisis of globalization as people reject it for various reasons (progressive or reactionary)

This trend exploded in the 2010s as unipolar hegemony just crumbles :xigma-male:

That’s a nice term for it, same as ‘post-left’ just meaning someone that’s convinced themselves that we’ve already moved past the contradictions of our society, so there’s no need for leftist politics and now it’s fine to say slurs.

kim il sung created north korea when he INVADED south korea, a nation that always existed independent of North Korea. The 1940s never happened. :very-intelligent:

So… if these committees represented the will of the people of Korea at the time, and it was suppressed from outside in the south, and the Soviets instead integrated these committees into a new government. That means the DPRK is actually, seriously the legitimate government of the entire Korean peninsula.

This’ll be fun to point out the next time I get into an argument about North Korea. But it’s also absolutely infuriating. Death to America.

They are, people tend to look only at Kim Il-sung and think that the Soviets only built the government with Kim and his comardes. When in reality the DPRK government was composed of members of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea.

The only good one they made of the liberal sitting on a throne of oppression saying “there’s no ethical consumption under capitalism” while they choose to be more unethical.

Maybe they missed the message as they lack self awareness
