The problem is that celebrities and athletes opinions carry more weight because they’re famous and make a lot of money. And carry even more weight if their opinion aligns with yours.
Even if they were qualified we need to be looking to highly qualified people with documented voting records that shows consistent ideology and a commitment to ethical decision making.
