It just felt fucking amazing to watch the results come in last night.
Trump wasn’t the only consideration for voters and I suspect that Albo would’ve formed government even without the Trump effect, but Dutton (conservative leader) ran on Trump-style culture war bullshit and it’s been absolutely rejected.
Congrats and you’re welcome. Hopefully countries continue to recoil from their own tin-pot dictators-in-waiting as Canada and Australia have done.
Between this and Canada I’m feeling a bit better about propaganda affecting the world at large as it has in America. The global push to the right is still troubling but at least everyone else seems to have their heads on right.
I think American exceptionalism is true in one facet, we’re exceptionally hateful and ignorant. We’re easy to manipulate. I’m glad that’s not as true everywhere else.
Swap the election order and it may not have been quite so clear cut. Though this order is probably for the best, as most Americans wouldn’t have paid attention to the MAGA hangers-on winning in other countries and would have elected the cruel buffoon regardless.
