Isn’t most of that $80 billion in the form of weaponry ordered from US manufacturers? Or maybe I’ve misunderstood. I thought much of the cash hasn’t really left America.
But yeah, musk needs to be stopped. No one person should have so much power, it makes a joke of democracy.
Most of it is actually old equipment they’re taking out of storage. Of course the US likes to have stuff like that around for various contingencies, one of which is the exact thing it’s being used for now. So new equipment will be bought for the US military and existing equipment will be placed into a storage a little sooner than usual.
But a big chunk of that price tag is ordinance, and yeah that needs to be re-ordered right away.
But at any rate, yeah nearly all of it is from US manufacturers, though there may be a few parts and things from allies like Canada.
Because we’re talking about war here - war is the realm of governments, not individuals. When an individual wields inordinate power over the outcome of a war, or a battle within a war, they’re exercising more power than any other citizen has. When one citizen has more power and say than any other citizen, that’s a bastardisation of democracy.
Musk doesn’t wield any power other than over his own product. The Ukrainian and US governments are free to use their own products and services in their wars. If musk doesn’t let them use his product for war they’re no worse off than of his product didn’t exist.
Democracy is in no way affected. Speaking of democracy though - did the US citizens vote to fund a proxy war with Russia? Where was the democracy there?

Democracy? How on earth does Elon musks company making their own internet satellites “make a joke of democracy” exactly?
Everything you leftists don’t like is an “attack on democracy” now 😂
