As someone who does my own basic maintenance on my car, this is why I triple check everything when putting wheels back on.

    So the guy was not allowed to drive, and asked a 16 year old without a license to drive instead?

    I guess that was just karma right there and then.

    The owner of that vehicle has clearly made a lot of bad decisions lately.

    I wonder if it’s as simple as forgetting to torque the lug nuts, or was the wrong type of rim fitted to the vehicle?

      I don’t know, to have all four wheels come off makes me think he only put the lug nuts on intending to tighten it after, but forgot to do it.

      The description of what happened makes it sound like a cartoon .

      EDIT: Actually just reading it again, I can’t tell if the wheels fell off or the tyres came off the rims?

        Consider that this was written by a journalist, who are often not that bright, what I suspect happened is aftermarket rims were fitted to the vehicle, and didn’t fit.

        Either way, it would have been the entire wheel most likely.
