I don’t know where to post my frustration.
But yes, I’m a man and I’ve my plans and dreams and they absolutely do NOT look like the top picture. It was fun initially like “haha some men happily live like this” but the joke got old. I’m absolutely sure most men want something more from their life than the top picture and the stereotyping helps no one
- phone falls out of my pocket on the way to bed
- bend over to pick it up
- fuck it, lay in bed with my feet at the wall end
- put my phone down, under my sick katana mount
- go to sleep
- alarm goes off
- I turn over and bring the full weight of my arm down on the phone
- I don’t feel my phone
- I don’t feel my hand
- I’m all-right now.
I think there is also another angle of self worth hidden in this meme. Do you think you deserve better?
Pretty tired of all posts/memes overtly designed to divide the populace into groups.
I wish this still had the silly vibe or “boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider”
Now, I know people are looking at memes like this and genuinely getting upset at “the other side”
I’m still salty about people ruining the “birds aren’t real” meme by thinking it was completely true
Tbh I want a lot more from my life than the top picture, but I’m more than ok with the place I sleep looking like it. Especially if it means I’ve got more to spend (money or timewise) on my specific priorities.
Interior design is stereotypically associated with women. Subsequently, there is a not insignificant amount of men who do kinda live like the top picture. Nothing wrong about that either, unless it’s due to trying to fit gender norms (and it probably is a lot of the time).
Personally, I used to put zero effort into making my living space cozy. This was partially due to the stereotypes and me being afraid of being perceived as gay (I was a closeted bisexual). Lately, I have gotten more interested in interior design, and it’s been fun. I have made my apartment a more pleasant place to live, which is really cool.
That top picture could really use the hollowed out skull of an enemy to drink beer from.
For real though I agree with you. I’m not great at decoratimg and it had taken me a long time but I love my home office/den space. It’s very me and very cozy.
I liked the male living space subreddit for making fun of this meme
The key is the katana
Just slash any problems in one fell swoop
But now you have two problems instead of one.
Problem win everytime
It just might slash your problems when you get up in the night to pee and trip over it
That’s not where I live, that’s where I bide my time.
Once again, this is less about gender and more about an underlying or hidden issue, in this case its about mental health, access to resources (wealth/poverty) and creativity IMO.
(This is not supposed to hide that many people gender interior composition.)
To my taste, both places are quite boring. The room on the top spatialises a misunderstanding of function (minimalism requires reaching at least a minimum, see also bed frame), while the lower room is polished and color-steril.
Every modern apartment I’ve been in neglects comfy chairs
GRIL’s problems, in that case, come from the inside. No apartment will satisfy her. We need a saner society to reduce mental illness.
It’s a broad stereotype, but there’s a small kernel of truth to it. No one would prefer the top pic apartment, but a relatively higher percentage of men would be totally ok with it
Urgh, wat a stereotype.
