I was driving and found myself craving some caffeinated soda. Since coca and Dr pepper are now off limits I just downed an espresso and got a (European) ice tea, but I’m wondering if there are actual alternatives
I’ve recently been enjoying Fritz-Kola, which is a german brand of cola. I was also super happy to learn that Red Bull is european!
We have quite some in the database already: https://buy-european.net/category/soft-drinks Feel free to suggest more - I will also keep an eye on this thread to make notes.
I am a hydro homie, but as someone who has a tendency to not eat enough, sometimes that sugar rush hits different
Irn-Bru, made by AG Barr. Scotland voted for Remain if memory serves.
AG Barr also make Tizer, DnB, and a range of standard sodas (cola, lemonade, cream soda, etc.).
All your soft drink needs well catered for.
Rubicon too!
I love Rubicon.
Fun fact about that is that Rubicon along with defunct childhood favourite Panda Pops were originally made by Hall & Woodhouse Brewery (of Badger Beers fame), when they fancied a try at becoming a soft drinks company too. When they lost interest they wrapped up Panda Pops and sold on Rubicon.
Kofola in Czechia is good
Most european supermarket chains will have their own brand and they will most probably come from a local company. Lidl, auchan, carrefour…
Then we also have local brands. In italy there is sanpellegrino, san benedetto, ferrarelle, lemonsoda…
San Pellegrino does taste good, but I don’t feel particularly great buying it. Literally coca cola feels morally better than Nestlé.
Almost every country has tons of domestic soda brands, though most of them are only available locally/regionally and some of them are probably USA-owned.
In Germany there’s Fritz Cola, Afri-Cola, Sinalco, Mio-Mio, Club Mate, Bionade, Paulaner Spezi and many more.
Yeah in France we have tons of “regional” colas but outside of Brittany (Breizh cola) and Corsica (Corsica cola) you’re not finding them in a gas station
Kofola is really popular in Czech republic and surrounding countries.
