Solar panels last way longer than 10 years. Usually they have a 25 years warranty on them that means that after 25 years they are still producing at least 80% as much power as they were producing when new!

“Mauvaises herbes” this is the word I was thinking about.
Same for me, I stopped distro-hoping 2 years ago when I moved to NixOS.
It was tough at first, setting it up took a while and i genuinely felt stupid like i haven’t felt for a while; but now I love having the same config on my two laptops. I have one that stays at work and another one for traveling. With one word/line added into my config I can as a software, configure the VPN, change the wallpaper on both my laptop, or not. Some stuff like gaming goes only on the traveling laptop.
Also, another big thing for me is the feeling of having a cleanly built system all the time. I haven’t felt the urge to do a clean reinstall since I started with NixOS.
GM received more than $7 billions of subsidies and around $50 billions of “Federal loans, loan guarantees and bailout assistance”.
US auto manufacturers are getting their fair share of subsidies.
China’s biggest strength is that they are very good at manufacturing products at a low cost.
They can make cheap products at a low cost but they can also make very good products.
Aliexpress for getting parts is amazing.
The French name for weed could be translated to “bad/wrong grass”

Could it be this: Posoqueria Latifolia
If we can live just as long as we do now but in better health it would be amazing.
I couldn’t work from home but I really like coworking spaces.
Rather than having to commute all the way to the main office I have an office located 5 min away from home.
This way I do have an office, coworkers but without the long commute.
ST operates its own fabs, they are located mostly in Europe.
I don’t know about Nordic
There is STmicroelectronics manufacturing chips in Europe.
Wait, I messed up. It’s almost 40 years ago, not 50
If they were publicly traded they could have started to do the smart things that investors like to see, like spending billions to integrate AI in steam. Why is there no AI in steam yet ? Clearly a failure, Gabe should be replaced by a CEO that would not lose time and money in frivolous things like Linux (what is Linux BTW ?) and start improving the company values by adding AI and firing employees.
I’m having a thought now.
Each time we see “company laid off X employees to replace them with AI”. Is it really to replace them with AI or is it just layoff because we are in recession that are disguised with AI to make it sound better ?
Better for what ?
For repairability ? The fairphone win easily
For privacy ? Graphene OS has a small edge, but e/os or calyx are still way better than stock android.
For not giving your money to evil corporation ? Fairphone is better.
It’s been in the work for quite a while. The mayor of Paris announced that the seine will be open for swimming in 5 years … In 1988.
So it took a bit longer than planned, almost 50 years instead of 5 but the fact that they are opening it now is the result of these 50 years of continuous improvement.
They are going to put a tariff on flesh eating flies imported from Mexico instead
It was a typo, thanks
I moved to the Caribbean for a few years a while ago and I wanted to do something meaningful.
I saw that the trade between islands was quite low despite being very close, a lot of businesses are struggling because they lack the economy of scale that inter-island trade could bring.
Since it’s low volume it’s quite expensive and slow to move stuff between islands the traditional way (container)
So I thought that a small autonomous cargo boat going between islands would be a great idea !
I was quickly told that it was a terrible idea unless I wanted to be “recruited” by a cartel.

I think they got lost on the way
