I have tried looking for communities on lemmy.world on lemmy.ml, but I couldn’t find it.
Tried searching for:
- !lemmyworld
- [email protected]
- https://lemmy.world/c/lemmyworld and so on, but no luck.
Confirming same issue from lemmy.ca
I found this one, but wanted to connect the new [email protected] community and am unable to discover. Might be a federation issue?
Edit: Was able to join. As suspected, not fully federated out yet. To solve: users not on lemmy.world need to use their instance’s website (not via an app) and search directly for [email protected] and click into the community & subscribe. Once done, it will begin to propogate to your instance as well, helping spread it to others that may be interested.
Is it possible to do this preemptively as a not-logged-in user on another instance? Or does it have to be a member of the instance?
It seems like we’re going to end up with a bunch of copies of the same community if you have to know that a community exists on instance X in order to propogate it to your instance. I just did that with Linguistics.
Some issues should now be resolved. I’ll keep an eye.
I was able to find this post: https://lemmy.world/post/5
In beehaw’s search: https://beehaw.org/post/427547
I guess propagation of federated content is slow.
The comments are not there, and don’t seem to be on any communities I subscribe to from other servers. Am I misunderstanding how it’s supposed to work and only posts are federated?
No, it should show all comments, I think there are some sync issues.
I’ll look into it
beehaw.org is listed on the Lemmy.world linked Instances list but the same situation
seems like there’s going to be some growing pains.
It took some time for searches to come up here too. Sometimes I need to search 2 times before I get results. Need to keep an eye on that.
It feels like there are some sync issues, I don’t see comments in posts from others instances like beehaw.org.
