this one is actually one of my favorite memes. Itās up there with the āoh youre into pronouns? how about you let me she/them tittiesā Mario voice acted one
I donāt get the reference :/
They are cowering, afraid.
Not wearing glasses, guess she/its about to get real.
Whatever it is, safety is nowhere to be seen
She/they and it/its are about to learn what photosynthesis means.
what will they learn
Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.
Not trying to be rude, just curious where she/they comes from? I would like to know what it means. The other ones I know but this one is lost on me.
means you can refer to the person as she, or as they.
Could be used by transfems, cisfemmes, enbys, anyone whoās ok with being referred to as she or they when talking about 'em in the third person
I thought it was the word supposed to be the possessive. As in āher carā.
Why does she/her use two words for female denunciation, is there a difference?
Nah, English is just weird.
āI ate her apple while looking at her and she was madā / āi ate their apple while looking at them and they were madā are essentially the same sentence when you think about it. One just has specific gender markers attached, and some people donāt like that
Yeah but 'they" already refers to ungendered. So my question is: why are there two pronouns instead of one.
Ok, complex idea boiled down to cliff notes: normalisation.
Iām cisfem, but if someone who doesnāt know me refers to me as they, iām fine with it. Iām not a they, but allowing this habit opens the door a bit more for someone who is.
Transfem enby here - the way it works for me (canāt speak for anyone else) is essentially as two valid options. Some of my friends alternate, some stick with one, but if youāre going to pick just one then those are the correct options. Canāt guarantee itāll be the same for others with multiple valid pronouns but most will be happy to explain if you ask. Personally I list them from most to least preferred but theyāre both right so as long as itās one of those I donāt care that much
I do the same. I guess itād make more sense to write she/her/they/them but thatās long and everybody recognizes that the single slash represents pronouns so more looks weird.
she/her/they/them
Just want to say, seeing this can be helpful and encouraging to people who are questioning and scared of saying or doing the wrong things. At least it was for me. There was a particular person I was following on social media that described herself as a ātransfem enbyā, who was probably the most instrumental in making me come to terms with myself, who listed all four of these pronouns. And seeing all of those pronouns made me think, āOh, so the rules arenāt so black and white and this isnāt actually so scary and intimidating after all. I am valid in how I feel, even if Iām actually fine with any pronouns.ā
Of course, Iāve now seen āanyā listed as pronouns many times but when youāre not in these circles yet, youāre ignorant and go by what you see in media representation etc. Concepts that seem obvious to me now wouldāve been beyond me before.
gendered/non-gendered mixes like that can be a little confusing at first. iāve met folks with these chosen pronouns, and the answers iāve gotten have ranged from āiām happy with eitherā to āiād prefer if you used both roughly the same amountā.
anecdotally, theyāve also been some of the most chill folks iāve met when it comes to messing up their pronouns! which is wonderful for me because my brain is a pile of rotting swiss cheese that can sometimes do math ^^
Iāve always understood them as either/or, although I always though people wput their preferred one first. Sometimes people will use both when theyāre questioning or just want to test one out to see if it feels more comfortable, or sometimes they truly just donāt care.
Though I remember someone once wanted each specific pronoun to be used depending on what you were saying (i.e. she went to the store where their friend was waiting), which I would try to respect but honestly thatās a whole other level of thinking and I canāt imagine most people being this particular.
Iāve thought about correcting people about my pronouns depending on how Iām feeling, but honestly I couldnāt even expect myself to get it right so I donāt.
Is it supposed to be interpreted as see them tiddies, maybe?
