Listen, the design of them is bad nowadays…
When it’s finished, there are 5 peeps… Ok, 5!
When I open the door after peep nr. 1, you could think that the microwave knows, that I’m aware of it having finished… But no… It has to give me 4 more peeps, when the food is already out of it…
Which is it now, 5! peeps or 5?
You look forward to your microwaved popcorn, as suddenly a small chill runs down your spine. “Time is almost up…” You shudder and start running towards the microwave, stepping on the child’s lego and the cat in the process.
As you enter the kitchen the timer reaches zero, and you know you have failed. 120 beeps are about to commence, separated by two seconds - four minutes. Not even removing the power supply would help as this model has an emergency power supply. In case of loss of power supply it will do what the microwave does best: beep
Is my microwave the only one with silent mode?
I have 2 demands for microwaves. Have a 30sec button and start when I press it once. After 1 minute of no use, just clear the time left. Also don’t beep every 10 seconds after the timer ends. I’m drunk and I probably don’t need that food if I don’t remember. That’s more than 2, so 30 demands and I’ll stop before I hit zero left.
There are some that make the noise when you stop it manually, I curse the family of the designers every time.
Microwave done: beep. beep. beep. beep.
Microwave interrupted: BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP
Microwave reset: also BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP
I have a microwave that makes a noise when you stop it manually and also when you open and shut the door the beeping continues until the full sequence of beeps has completed.
I’ll be moving soon, and I am absolutely not taking it with me.
and you sort of feel like… you know, I could have been a ninja
