From the article I’ve garnered that this has been occurring in Queensland already. Does anyone know of any studies/statistics indicating this helps reduce knife related crimes?

Seems super fucking annoying to have to go through and I am generally for a reduced police presence in public places.

I just read this morning that WA is introducing knife laws like Queensland. They studied Queensland to research the laws.

I’m ok with what they’ve come up with. While I’ve carried pocket knives or a Leatherman for work, I’ve never carried them into the entertainment areas where all the pubs/clubs are. And if you are working in those areas, you will still be permitted to carry your knife.

It’s a compromise between just banning knives and stopping people taking them out on the town where they will be tempted to bring them out in an altercation.
