I constantly come back to jokes or funny things I’ve written on Lemmy just to laugh at my stupid joke again.

Only humourless people don’t laugh at their own jokes.

If I don’t find my joke funny, why tell it?

If I can’t laugh with myself who can I laugh with?

If I didn’t think it was funny myself, why would I tell it to anyone?

Sometimes it makes it funnier to laugh at your own jokes. Mitch Hedberg laughing at his own filler jokes cracks me up.

Sometimes I tell myself a joke in my head that’s so funny I laugh out loud. Seemingly at random from anyone else’s perspective.

My jokes tend to be terrible, so not really, but what will really get me laughing is the reaction of other people to how terrible they are.

Probably shouldn’t laugh at that to be fair, what with causing suffering and all that, but as suffering goes it could be far worse.

I write and perform comedy, fairly low-level. To me it’s a metronome on the fastest setting between “I am a genius, no one has ever been funnier” and “I can’t even write a sentence let alone a joke, a funeral would be funnier”
