Gregor Formanek is accused of aiding and abetting the murder of 3,300 people
I hope someone gets satisfaction about justice finally served, although I can’t help think that this guy lived a full life with no consequences; even if they administered the death penalty, he’s 100. Statistically, he’s already long past expiration date, and if history is any measure, he won’t serve time because of his advanced age.
Feels like too little, too late, but then, I can’t imagine how survivors might feel about this. Catharsis?
Being on trial is apparently a pretty awful experience. It’s too late to make any real difference but hey, I’m all for Nazi guards suffering in the legal system
even if they administered the death penalty
That can’t happen, as there is no death penalty in Germany. Even the state Hessen removed it from their regional law, as this relic was superseded by federal law.
Ah. I didn’t read TFA; I didn’t know Germany had him. I assumed Argentina, or wherever he escaped to and hid out all these decades.
