this and macron creating a conservative government despite leftists winning the most votes in france makes me wonder if a leftist victory is ever possible.

Not through liberal “democracies” no, where the entire point is to keep capitalists in power. Unionizing and organizing for a revolution has always been the only way.

The much bigger problem is the apathy and stupidity of the average person.

Every single person in Western countries has enough information to see through the bullshit of the political class and they have the power to vote them out. But they don’t. They don’t want to be bothered by actually taking responsibility, they just want someone else to blame. Jews, immigrants, gays, doesn’t matter.

Many will argue with propaganda, but most of the propaganda is extremely blatant. You’ll only believe it, if you want to believe it. It may solidify resentments, but it won’t create them out of nowhere.

Not the “proper” way, that way was designed to prevent a leftist victory from ever happening, and shutting it down if it does. However, history has shown that it’s incredibly achievable once people get together and decide to stop playing the ruling class’s games.

        However, history has shown

i think that this is the key part. i’m unaware of a leftist victory in the global north since the great depression and i suspect it’s because the hegemonic powers have gotten so good and so organized at mitigating possible class cohesion that we’re stuck in this pattern until something very drastic happens to society centuries/millennia from now; making a leftist victory a practical impossibility for any of us in ours or the next several generation’s lifetimes.
