Normally I don’t have much time to watch movies, and for the occasional one Netflix is good enough. But once a coupple of years there is a specific one I want to see which is not on Netflix.

Normally I can find it on ThePirateBay, but sometimes it’s offline.

So my question is, how to get a movie like “Sing 2” in a easy way like I used on TPB now in 2023.

The quality is terrible, though. All of these sites rely on the same bitrate starved YTS rips. It’s why torrenting remains popular for people who care about presentation, because you have so many more options than just the absolute bare minimum.

Fair enough if you have no standards but don’t pretend it’s a choice between YTS and remuxes with nothing in-between. There is a very noticeable increase in quality just going from YTS to anything slightly larger.

Oh, no. I’m not ignoring the other options, just wanted to make a clear example, as bad as it was haha. I just like small sizes since quality isn’t the highest priority of mine, just like how I love FLACs and cannot deal with 320mp3.

1337x and TorrentGalaxy are generally pretty decent. Compare bitrates for audio and video and take note of the names of the release group. You’ll start to develop a mental list of names to look for. In terms of films, I’d recommend looking for Tigole releases on 1337x as a starting point.

I use torrent galaxy, that seems to work pretty well.

Qbittorent to get the thing you want. Recommended to get a VPN while doing so.

Dump the file into a flash drive and plug into a TV. Or setup a shared network drive. Or set up a Plex server with a basic Music/TV/Movie folder structure , have Plex scan it, and stream like your other streaming apps.

Definitely would second Plex. Previously I just had an external hard drive with my library on it but that isn’t as accessible.

With Plex, you can easily get started just installing it on a personal computer and let it grow over time. I had mine on my personal computer for years before recently upgrading to a NAS and it’s top tier. Makes streaming to any device effortless and helps you organize your library

If you’ve an option to install android apps, then OnStream is a good option.

    Second option is HDO.

I have a Chromecast 4k with Google TV which is android. So theoretically I might be able to install it. But I don’t need it very often. And to be honest on the 4k TV if possible I’d rather watch in 4k if possible. And it seems that with torrents often you can find a 4k version.

When you torrent in Germany from your home without a vpn its just a matter of time when you will get the letter to pay. On mobile you should be safe since afaik you share an IP with all the people who use the same cell tower, but this could be dangerous misinformation. Also the lawers are trying to get the easy money, I think when they see a tourist downloaded something they dont bother.

Use a VPN. Also I am only using private trackers which minimizes the risk drastically. But Usenet is also fine. When I still tried to get German content oftentimes you will find OneClickHosters though, but I only get english content nowadays, so the scene could habe changed.

I think it’s the ad overlay, when I click the search button an ad opens in another tab and I have to go back to re click the button. Sometimes 2-3 times before I’m allowed to click.

It’s annoying but 3 clicks for a movie is obviously cheap.

OK, I checked it for you. In Firefox you can open inspector and then head to Network tab and there get the .m3u8 playlist URL. I’d recommend to check in VLC if it works. If playing it in VLC is all you need, good.

Another option is to download it using youtube-dl. I tried it and it started the download, so that will probably work too.

If you don’t need to download it, there’s himovies.sx. There used to be option to download, but maybe they had some issues with that.

Does this website use public torrenting in the background to give the files or do they host the actual file? I’m asking because if former is the case, a leak in VPN, will reveal your real IP to other peers (including copyright trolls). I know kill-switch but that is not completely safe and binding client is not possible when using such websites if they use torrent protocol.

(Make sure you’re doing this all behind a VPN)

I don’t personally trust the free streaming sites. I torrent the bare mp4 or mkv file because I can just play it on my own computer without worrying about malware or being tracked.

There are multiple mirrors for The Pirate Bay, just search it on your favorite search engine and they should come up. At least one of them always works. There’s also sites like 1337x, among other free trackers. (RIP RARBG, you’ll always live in our hearts)

There’s also private trackers that are a lot easier to get into than others.
