  • Is that it?

One of the things I like more about AI is that it explains to detail each command they output for you, granted, I am aware it can hallucinate, so if I have the slightest doubt about it I usually look in the web too (I use it a lot for Linux basic stuff and docker).

Some people would give a fuck about what it says and just copy & past unknowingly? Sure, that happened too in my teenage days when all the info was shared along many blogs and wikis…

As usual, it is not the AI tool who could fuck our critical thinking but ourselves.

  • If you find that you have to go to the post to see the context then the context card isn’t doing a good job.

It does a good job showing you the corresponding thread, not the comment I wrote and the one other users are replying to.

What can be changed about it to give you all the context you need without having to navigate away?

Talking specifically about the context box, if it auto scrolled to my last comment, which is already highlighted (showing the reply as well ofc) would be a huge improvement IMHO.

You mentioned “it doesn’t give you said information quickly at once, especially with large threads” could you elaborate?

It is basically because the context box includes the whole thread (if it is something like a megathread it becomes worse), then a bunch of other people’s comments and then mine over there, the only quick way to have a glance to it is because it is highlighted, I find this too much and I just ditch it completely and go to the thread… But then I need to unfold it to see my comment 😅

    I hope I was clear.

  • I appreciate the inbox QOL but I still think it needs more work, please don’t get me wrong, just sharing my feedback.

It takes me three taps to know about what is going on when somebody replies to me (I know about the context option, but it is not very useful for long threads, I have shared this concern with you previously):

    1. Tapping in the message in question
    2. Tapping the little icon at the very right of the context view to go to the thread
    3. Tapping the “View comment thread” option to unfold my previous comment and realize what I wrote

I don’t know if I am dumb that I need to re read what I wrote or I just got used to messaging/mail apps 😅 (or it could be that it has been a while since I used Lemmy and got some replies lol)

Again, the context menu is a handy option, but it doesn’t give you said information quickly at once, especially with large threads (and some Lemmy users like to comment, but hey, we all are here for humans -not bots- interaction right?)

Hopefully you can add these enhancements in the roadmap 😬

  • Thank you for the explanation, I was also wondering why limiting it to 30… It is a fairly easy limit to reach as there are… Well, multiple communities for the same content with different instances lol.

Hopefully when Lemmy decides to implement this (ETA son) the transition for the app would be smooth for you :)
