Of course, their guy is actually ineligible according to our Constitution, which is why they’re trying this shit. Republicans don’t care if they’re right, they don’t care about the truth, all they seem care about is taking as much as they can and hurting people along the way who they think “deserve it” for being different. Every accusation is an admission.

“No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.”

Yeah, that checks out. I think when this was being discussed it was the language of “as an officer of the United States” that was up for interpretation.

Our founding fathers really didn’t anticipate someone being purposefully dense when interpreting the law. Shame.

Nor does it forbid rapist fraudsters that killed hundreds of thousands of Americans and tried to overthrow our rule of law from running. That is our job and apparently we suck at it.
