Now is literally the worst time to be posting this. Do not compare Trump to Teddy Roosevelt.
American history is a violent history. I don’t think anyone here is reading Trump as being anything like TR, but there are many lessons to be drawn by comparing the political environments of then and now. Here is an interesting non-wiki article discussing some of the comparative history
The comparison being drawn is not a favorable one
Yeah Roosevelt got shot and then just kept going like nothing happened. Seriously he finished his speech before getting medical attention. That dude was metal as hell.
As an experienced hunter and anatomist, Roosevelt correctly concluded that since he was not coughing blood, the bullet had not reached his lung; he declined suggestions to go to the hospital immediately. Instead, he delivered his scheduled speech. His opening comments to the gathered crowd were, “Friends, I shall ask you to be as quiet as possible. I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot—but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose.”
Yeah a lot of people don’t realize that a lot of the body cavity can take an alarming amount of bullets and still keep functioning more or less properly for at least a little while. Unless you nail something critical, any large animal (including humans) can keep going for quite a while with a bullet or two in them. There was a saying that old Andrew Jackson used to rattle when he walked because of all the duals he survived, implying that he had a few bullets lodged in there somewhere. It’s also why hunters try very hard to go for heart shots; otherwise the deer will run the fuck away and maybe not even die right away (or at all).
It takes more than that to kill a bull moose.
Sounds pretty stupid actually.
We all knew trump was going to compare himself the second he started fist pumping. That’s literally the only thing that was going through his tiny pea brain. I commented such the minute it happened.
You mean Teddy didn’t repeatedly fist pump the air and chant “Fight Fight Fight!”
Schrank was immediately disarmed and captured; he might have been lynched had Roosevelt not shouted for Schrank to remain unharmed. Roosevelt assured the crowd he was all right, then ordered police to take charge of Schrank and to make sure no violence was done to him.
That is a leader!
Because people had integrity and honor back then.
If good guys act exactly like bad guys, what are they?
