Dude is from a pretty purple constituency. Why are people surprised that he’s a mix of red and blue stances on things?

This shit needs to stop. Anyone to the right of you is right wing, we get it. You don’t allow dissent or disagreement in the left so everyone who isn’t with you on every issue is the enemy right? You know what that sounds like right?

A lot of people who claim to be left on here, are doing everything possible to push people away from the left, and chasing off allies with this “no true leftist” bullshit.

Worldly Biden is on the right. That’s a fact. In American terms he is slightly left. IMO.

This is only even close to true if you think ‘worldly’ is western Europe plus like 3 other countries. It doesn’t matter what the rest of the world thinks counts as left and right wing. Biden is a left wing American Democrat, this is such a stupid argument.

It does matter. Categorizing left and right equally leads to a better understanding of who is leading in other countries in comparison. Which is growing more and more important as a world war looks possible. Trying to separate them is just cognitive dissonance. And yes. I consider them worldly as they generally seem to dictate the stance and spectrum of politics of the western world. Where our politics spawned from, relate to, and ally with. My apologies if that offends you.

The words “right” and “left” politically mean the same thing they did 200 years ago. Left means you view human rights as paramount over property rights, and “Right” means you view property rights as more important than human rights. This means the dividing line is pretty clear. Capitalism, as a system, depends on property rights being enforced at the expense of people (see, being allowed to own empty residential property while people are homeless), and is therefore the dividing line. Left of center is anti-private property and anti-capital, and right of center is pro-private property rights and pro capitalism.
