Australians have resoundingly rejected a proposal to recognise Aboriginal people in its constitution and establish a body to advise parliament on Indigenous issues.
Saturday’s voice to parliament referendum failed, with the defeat clear shortly after polls closed.
What do you mean by “official”? There isn’t one “official” indigenous group in australia, there are hundreds. There have been and are dozens of indigenous advisory panels already working with government that are being ignored. In fact about a month ago a second senior advisor resigned from one of the indigenous advisory boards to the Police because shock horror - they were ignored.
