Social media companies are receding from their role as watchdogs against conspiracy theories ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

    Twitter isn’t “surrendering to disinformation”, it’s just not censoring political opinions anymore. Community notes are IMO one of the best things about twitter, and how “disinformation” should be handled on every platform. Let people voice their opinions and share articles, but if they’re factually wrong have them corrected right next to them, not deleted and banned.

    Censorship of dissenting opinions and voices is never the answer, and social media companies should not be interfering in elections by favouring views of one party and censoring the other.
