Lemm.ee is going offline at the end of this month, which means we need to move the community

I looked at piefed.social, but their community migration only works if there was a subscriber, which there wasn’t so they don’t have any content to “take over”.

I think dubvee.org makes the most sense, the administration and the auto-mod has been great for the [email protected] community

Names - Should we take this opportunity to change the community name?

The world Carnivore can be triggering for some people, and it is a little confusing with people who like to eat meat as part of a high carb diet. We could try some other options

  • zerocarb
  • nocarb
  • animalbasedfoods
  • abf

I’ve thought a different name may have saved some of our moderation headaches in the past, but the Carnivore word is the term used by the zero-carb community at large.

I’m open to thoughts and options, any input is welcome.

For the moment my default plan is to move to dubvee.org keeping the same carnivore name.

Sounds good. I just came across this post pinned on Reddit’s zerocarb community: https://old.reddit.com/r/zerocarb/comments/1g586uz/back_to_the_basics_with_bear/

Bear called it zerocarb in comparison to low carb

That’s pretty much why I like the name zerocarb. But carnivore is definitely the popular search term now

I wonder if it’s worth having a zerocarb community pointed at the main carnivore one

Though that thread has a lot on salt I don’t agree with. Take salt as and if you need it. It tastes bad if you have had too much. The place where the cattle you eat grew up matters, the weather you live in matters

Yeah, I figure there are many reasons someone ends up doing full carnivore.

      • They are just really unhealthy or fat, and want to get clean as quickly as possible
      • They have some PBF allergy and need to eliminate it
      • They have done keto before and it worked, but it never quite stuck, and they try carnivore
      • They have some allergy to pesticide or some industrial plant processing contaminant
      • Suffering from major inflammation, such as joint pain, and want to reduce it as much as possible

For some of these people zero carb is their goal, for other people inflammation is their goal, and for others eliminating allergens is their goal.

I suspect that is why “Carnivore” is the most popular term, it doesn’t care why you got to all ABF it just covers all situations.

If we do have a zerocarb community, I wonder what we would post there? I’m struggling to find good content as it is for the one community.

For me it was that low carb wasn’t working (it was too hard), and zerocarb seemed less threatening than carnivore. The words mean the same but they hit differently

But since we don’t have the population to support both (even Reddit shares mods between the two) and carnivore is the popular term, I agree that carnivore is the best option

For me it was that low carb wasn’t working (it was too hard),

Isn’t that so weird? me too. I started keto, thought Carnivore was crazy, on keto I could eat some normal stuff… but it was so hard to do correctly. Now that I’ve gone full carnivore, I realize how easy it is and how difficult keto is to do correctly.

On keto i had a constant battle of going in and out while trying new foods, recipes, restaurants. Ohh, this sausage has hidden carbs, but this sausage is ok… its just hard mode.

It’s funny. I recall on Reddit interactions with people promoting carnivore. You’d say something about protein targets and they’d say “or don’t worry about targets, eat enough meat and you’ll have enough”

Steffansons book (the fat of the land) was the straw that broke the camels back for me

Low carb was hard in the yo-yo diet way

Low carb was hard in the yo-yo diet way

This is pure truth. Keto works, it worked for me, solved some major issues, but I was always yo-yoing.

You’d say something about protein targets and they’d say “or don’t worry about targets, eat enough meat and you’ll have enough”

It sounds so simple its crazy. What clicked for me is one of the low carb down under lectures - ‘The body is a amazing homeostasis machine, if you listen to it you will be fine’. If your hungry - eat, if your thirsty - drink, the body will take care of the rest. it’s so simple.
