The dilapitated chaos of the simulation makes it work on looney tunes logic.
I remember I had a hunter shoot a deer, which began vomiting. The hunter shot repeatedly again but never hit — the deer continuted to vomit. Dozens of combat report pages of the deer vomits
. A mountainside covered in deer vomit. The suspension on your disbelief can’t endure it.
In a simulation where, by a miracle dice roll, a baby can punch the head off an iron colossus, it’s not a normal baby. The baby is Bugs Bunny.
is this what it was like to talk to david foster wallace
dyou think it’s fun to be eminem
ny years ago I got hit with a glitch in dark souls 2 where the thunder sound effect in the mirror night sound fight was omitted from the regular volume mixer and played at max volume, scaring the absolute fuck out of me, and the experience has never left my head
I also have, on a totally parallel thought track, come to understand the depths of my electricity/estim kink
HOWEVER, only just now have I connected the two phenomena

I got my buddy some little fanart prints off the internet and one of them he was like “oh this person hates me and has me blocked on twitter”. Remains to be seen if he’ll put it up lmao

I’m caught up on Blood in the Bosphorus. That LP gets very very dense as it enters the hearts of iron phase. Since i’m not a SA user I’m just going to have to remember the thread and check it
Sometimes when listening to a Ranged Touch pod someone will mention how each work of fiction teaches you how to read it, but I didn’t really get it until reading Shadow of the Torturer where the author almost explicitly teaches you about Severian as a narrator.
Although maybe this concept has a more general implication than an author, as I think of it, “playing a card”? Wolfe plays the “suspect narrator” card very quickly and vigorously. What other things in the book can be looked at through this lens of teaching you about how to read it?
I feel like most of the conflicts between those two positions are the fault of market relations/capitalism/scarcity, like part of what makes irl porn exploitative is that there’s money involved

The synopsis for gormenghast reads like it should have been written 10 years ago at the earliest. It sounds like the Locked Tomb series. How was that first book written in 1946? I gotta read it.
dominions is great. I’ve been tempted to write a MA Asphodel AAR about a carrion dragon making the world into its grave, and what a lively grave!
