And here I am considering buying a framework because it’s cheaper than a new MacBook… it’s been a while since I bought one new either. Had a desktop for the last ten years and would have kept it running except I got a free used desktop, then got a cheap used MacBook and figured I’d get rid of the big boys. Now the MacBook battery and SSD are failing and it’s very difficult/expensive to fix (plus the RAM is soldered) so I’m considering the Framework as a more upgradable option.

I know a number of Ukraine + Palestine supporters. They’re soft on Palestine, because Hamas Scary, but support a single state end to the occupation. I think it’s a default woke-lib position, to support the small against the large, the invaded against the invader, and the colonized against the colonist. It betrays a misunderstanding of the facts, but I don’t think it’s hard for well meaning people to get there.

Great animation; I like that it shows that these interactions are the result of fairly random motion. Some of the animations of molecular machines make the individual molecules look too much like intentional actors, which of course us humans love to project on inanimate things.

In that case, check the bed when staying in a hotel or hostel, wash thrift store clothes and dry hot, 20 minutes past bone dry, and don’t pick up upholstered furniture off the street.
It’s a pain in the ass but totally possible. The key is laundry, steam, and diatomaceous earth. The pesticides don’t really work (unless you can actually hit a bug with the juice) because they don’t eat stuff off the floor and don’t lick their feet like roaches do.
I’ve had them three unrelated times, and took them out each time. I got pest control from my landlord but they were generally incompetent. I mostly used the pest control people to prove to my landlord that we still had them and that we were doing our part to solve the problem.

Ok, that makes sense to me. Of course, by the same logic, modern labor unions trying to claw back conditions they lost in the 80s are also reactionary, even while doing harm reduction and building labor power which might help in a future revolution.
I think of ‘reactionary’ as synonymous with ‘anti-communist’ but that’s only really the common connotation because of our context.
