i take it to mean that the definition depends on how you’ve learned about it.

even in the same country it can be different, another real world example is the mexican rebellion of the early 20th century. if you’re a religious/social conservative it went from 1921 to 1933; if you’re not, it went from 1921 to 1923 and then there several followup wars like the cristero rebellion that lasted until 1933

conflicts don’t cleanly start and end; they windup and then winddown slowly and it’s up to you to define where the start and end are; and since we’re all have different definitions, others will have different dates.

nowadays, they’re called “moderate” or “centrist”.

If it makes you feel any better: I got to experience number 1, 2 and 3 of the “best” passenger train systems in this country and it’s crystal clear that each city’s elected officials would gleefully destroy the trains like Los Angeles did, if weren’t so politically toxic to suggest it now:

NYC’s is BEARLY passable as a primary means of transportation (unless you’re in Manhattan) and it gets exponentially worse the further from the city center you are located. Chicago is number two on that list and is so unreliable past 9pm that you either have depend on uber or a bus (buses are just as bad after 9pm) and number 3 is so disappointing that I won’t acknowledge it by name because it literally shutsdown a majority of its tracks after 8pm forcing everything through such a circuitous paths that it turned my 12 minute drive into a 2.5 hour long exercise in patience and it completely stops before 10pm; before 7pm on the weekends.

I’d be really curious to see material addressing contagious diseases and prevention specifically for promiscuous people, I wonder how it would differ from information addressed to a general audience.

i’ve learned from reddit and the knowledge i’ve gain feels less delusional and much more grounded in reality than anything a doctor has ever told me; try using a condom in a sex club (bathhouses not so much) and you’ll end up learning how to enjoy your own company and block out being surrounding by men very enthusiastically enjoying their time with each other. lol

something similar happened to me when i reported my very well connected silicon valley employer to california’s labor relation board; for over a year, i couldn’t find work despite having the right experience and personal & professional friends alike told me that my candidacy was unanimously approved. towards the end, i got my own confirmation in the form of submitting 2 identical applications for each position and only getting interview requests from the applications with the fake name; so i literally moved across the country 2x to find sustained employment again. (on a related note, i wish i could understand how austin texas is so closely associated with silicon valley california)?!

i was lucky in retrospect because i don’t have a mortgage, car loan, or people who depended on me at the time so i managed to eek out a survival leveraging my experience until i saved enough $$$ to move both times and it breaks my heart to know that these families will suffer much worse because i’m an educated, childless american where even my country’s lowest earners make 5x more these workers got paid, so we who can move to a different market whenever it’s needed and affordable. i have recourse for 2 more years to save up enough money to mount a legal challenge and these people don’t have that.

although, to be honest, dragging out lawsuits that outlive the people who created them is a common lawyer tactic to minimize pay out and i doubt i would live long enough to see it through to the end and it would also spread my name further to other asshats who don’t already know that i’m not too scared to call the state’s labor board; but this time, i’ll be sure to give the labor board contact information that isn’t easily traceable back to me.

i was a huge couch potato addicted to all the trek content i could find and i somehow missed this; thanks for the nostalgia and the icing on the cake is that i had the same remote control during the same period.
