Every pixel I’ve ever had has been extremely responsive. My OG Pixel XL, my Pixel 2 XL, my Pixel 4 XL, and my current Pixel 6 Pro were always very responsive and didn’t seem to slow down at any point. I’d imagine the OG Pixel XL is probably a little.laggy-feeling compared to the newest pixels but yeah; hate to admit it, because I don’t like iPhones, but the Pixel series is like the Iphone of Androids - and only the good things about the iPhone being only manufactured by 1 company - it’s the phone of the actual developer of the OS and gets lots of extra features first because of it, only stock OS apps preinstalled except for maybe a carrier app if phone is financed through them (I have the T-Mobile app on my current Pixel, for example). Super nice build quality, I’ve always ended up being tougher on my phones and the Pixels have held up really really well. Highly recommend them honestly.

So I know I’m in the minority not really caring all that much about the whole Google ecosystem, I enjoy it and how everything stays connected, I’m not necessarily on a crusade to prevent all data tracking on myself and all of that.

I have a Pixel 6 Pro as well and looks like I’m gonna wait until the 9 pro to upgrade again if possible, my 6 pro is over a year old and still showing no signs of stopping, still plenty of power for everything I need it for and beyond. Is there anything beyond de-googling that GrapheneOS provides? Can I stay google-ified while running it? Just trying to see what kind of benefits it provides other than de-googling

  • This seems fun! Here’s me:

I’m 27, I’m a giant woodworking nerd who also loves video games and hobby electrical engineering. I was lucky enough to turn my passion into a career, where I have a unique job - I program and operate our rather old large format 5’*10’ CNC router, and also do all the hand-cut joinery for the pieces that get ordered that require it. I can talk about CNC routing and woodworking in general for ages. I also love the concept of creating my own electronic and have dabbled a bit with raspberry Pi’s, arduinos, ESP32’s and various sensor gizmos and gadgets. I’d love to use my CNC and hobby electrical knowledge to create my own “cyberdeck” one of these days, and have a large horde of parts for a custom arcade cabinet I’ve been planning to build. Don’t wanna write too much so I’ll stop here - if you’ve got similar interests I think it could be fun to chat!

  • No, in my opinion that follows the rules, it’s not inherently violent. I think the implication is gross, and would rightfully be downvoted, but it doesn’t break any rules. It’s a bit of a false equivalency though considering LGBTQ+ people weren’t actively killing thousands of civilians, destroying homes, and raping thousands of women, like the Russian government was orchestrating at the time (and still is from my understanding, it’s just not interesting enough for the fucked 24 hours news cycle any more).

  • I should’ve known it was the beginning of the end of my time on reddit when I commented “well if people are gonna start flying Russian flags on their trucks here in the USA I’ll be keeping a baseball bat in the trunk of my car” shortly after the invasion of Ukraine began - specifically non-violent, and if they’d have been able to read my mind, the intent was so I could smash the windows out of their truck not actually beat the shit out of them, and I received a 3-day ban from the whole site for “advocating violence” or whatever the fuck it was called. I took a looooong break from reddit after that as I was honestly pretty disgusted an admin essentially supported Russia by banning me for my benign comment, but found myself there again.

Without RIF I’m definitely never going back.
