I wish we changed to just not cover him at all. It is insanely hard to ignore reading about his inane activities.
Breakpr0dto Australia•Dodging the duopoly: can three shoppers avoid Coles and Woolworths for a week?English2·2 years agoEver since I switched to boxdivvy for produce, I only really visit Coles or Woolworths for dairy.
I am a fan of https://www.daleysfruit.com.au/. I have only really purchased fruit trees off of them though.
I get seeds primarily from https://www.edenseeds.com.au/. I mostly just seed save now though, so I don’t purchase much.
Thank you for running the instance. I was curious if we might see the latencies start suffering with the mass migration. I found no noticeable degradation and thus no reason to host my own instance. Thank you again!

Breakpr0dto Technology@beehaw.org•Do You Think There Would Have Been a Large Protest if Steve Huffman Just Said We're Charging to Use the API to Increase Revenue?4·2 years agoI think it is within the company’s right to revenue increasing opportunities. That said I view the slandering of the Apollo creator as the turning point. It was very poor taste and their communication around this has been horrendous. It kick started the migration to the fediverse and a critical mass has adopted it. So now there is no good reason to go back to Reddit even if they reverse their decisions. Heck, had there been a different stimulant to fediverse adoption without any missteps from Reddit, I would still have transitioned my usage to a system where the users are more in control.
Entirely for vanity’s sake, how do I find out what user number I am on this instance?
Breakpr0dto Technology@beehaw.org•"Lemmy Explorer" a new website to explore Lemmy communities and instancesEnglish6·2 years agoIs there one that combines Lemmy and kbin communities?
I realise that this is unpopular. But personally while I disagree with the decision to charge (exorbitantly) for the api and appalled at the slander hurled at the dev, I think that is an business choice and one more item that I have to disagree and live with.
But I am very excited about the rise of the fediverse. I know that a company will eventually make a decision that I feel very passionately about, but I will be stuck making a difficult choice. With the fediverse, it provides the users with the opportunity to have control. This power of course often comes with various other costs (lack of a dedicated sre or moderation teams, etc). But I expect that over time this will evolve into options where paid offerings will come up that allows for higher QoS where required.
I am jealous of Melbourne. I don’t see any seed libraries in Sydney.
