I agree on the name. My first thought was ‘greener grass’. It also doesn’t surprise me they would have regret both in the short and long term after they faded away.
The desire to not have to ‘manage’ a growing company is understandable. It’s a shame they had to watch as the direction of the game they loved veered away from their vision.
Ah thanks for pointing that out, I’ve fixed it now.
Not just that but it seems they worked essentially since their departure from Runescape to develop an engine and a custom language all leading up to this MMO. An impressive undertaking to be sure. Can’t wait to see how it pays off.
It will be nice to have all the players on the same level to start off. I suppose that was the appeal of the Fresh Start worlds. With a fresh economy and the lack of game knowledge amongst the player base, I’m sure it’ll be a great time.
Ah I’d actually seen that before. Didn’t realize back then that is was by the Gower’s. They’ve put quite the effort into all this. I’m looking forward to trying it out when it launches.
I wasn’t aware they did a smaller game as a test. What was it called?
I feel like this is how any MMO must be for the top players. Once you’ve learned game mechanics to the point that every aspect of the game turns into an efficiency simulator, it’s easy to get frustrated at details of the game that few notice.
Add micro transactions to the mix and there’s an awful concentration of the sunk cost fallacy. Good on him for being able to pull the brakes.
