Silo - Strong start to this show, then I just kinda lost interest….although last week has me intrigued again. Just feel like they aren’t spending enough time on the sci-fi part of this sci-fi show.

Utopia(UK) - On episode 5. This show is good. Great production and camerawork. Interested to see where it goes. I hear the Amazon version is not so good.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury - almost done with season 1 and completely stoked for s2. I like that I didn’t have to know anything about Gundam to enjoy this.

I read the Silo trilogy years ago and loved it. So far the show is different, but still pretty good. The sci-if is really only in the surroundings. At its heart, it’s a story about how people in small confined communities will try to break free.

Yeah I really want to just read the books, I hear great things. Does this season pretty much = book 1? Will definitely finish the show out.

I have been watching it but I just don’t get something. They leave those bodies out there so do they have a huge stock of suits? Why are there only a few bodies out there? Lots of little holes like this put a damper on the show for me.

The show is slightly different than the books, so I’m not 100% sure how it will play out, but without giving anything away, the suits are a pretty important plot point. They’ve also alluded to another one in a few episodes. As for why leave the bodies out there, what should they do with them? You see early on that a person can’t last very long out there, so why would they waste resources retrieving possibly radiated bodies to do… something with them? As you saw with the mayor, bodies are buried in the farming levels to compost and feed future crops. Plus, them staying out there serves as a reminder that people are safe in the silo. FWIW, IIRC the view screen to the outside was only on the top floor in the books. Plus, I think the silo might have been deeper in the books. I think there were over 300 levels in the books. I don’t recall a specific number in the show, but I think it’s something in the high 100s or low 200s? Please, correct me if I’m wrong.

Week of 6/18: I watched the first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. It’s okay. I miss Discovery.

Actually finished watching 3-South today. Very comfy and some of the humor is still funny. I can see why they cancelled it. Definitely a show locked in time. Can’t see it being made any other era than the early 2000s.

Tried watching Gundam forever ago. Just not interested in mech shows at all. There’s only 1 i’ve ever liked.

The purpose of the suits is hardly a secret in the show. In the first couple of episodes it becomes obvious because the sherif takes his helmet off during the dying process.

My question is not about the purpose of the suits I think I have guessed that already it’s the fact that

    1. There isn’t a huge pile of bodies outside the door (people die within steps).
    2. The suits are not recovered so how big of a stockpile do they have?

Silo has just been “vault drama” this whole season, without exploring anything that makes the premise of the story interesting. I also don’t find the characters particularly compelling.

Unicorn: Warriors Eternal. It’s Genndy Tartakovsky’s new show on Adult Swim. He’s been trying to get this made for about 20 years. It’s really good so far and I’d recommend checking it out.

Yeah not the strongest season. I thought beyond the sea was pretty good though
