Yesterday, I answered to some buddy about mixing THC / CBD.

Today, I came back to see if there was any interaction with other people, and only then noticed the “crossposted from r/vaporents” thing.

Damn I feel awful. Not only did I take some of my personal tome to try and help some fellow vaporents, but also this person will never even know I tried to help.

I perfectly understand that we need some content here to attract new people / former redditors, but I do no wish this place to be a ghost town.

What do you think ?

    100% agree, which is why:

The post you commented on and linked to is in 9 days old

That bot has been off for at least 4-5 days now.

If you don’t want to talk to bots, make NEW posts :-)

It was to get something in here, exactly as you said. But that time passed. Your answer will still help someone if it pops in a google search or folks browsing here for similar questions. Those posts were seeds basically

We’ll still be bringing the old-as-hell stuff onto this server somewhere, but it won’t be continual bot reposts like that

I don’t really understand the point of running a question post through a crossposting bot… huh???

That’s kinda lame, but I could see it being nice in news communities.

The bot picked up and re-posted everything off of the sub’s RSS feed. It wasn’t checking what type of post it was unfortunately.

The bot was to get some content on here, hopefully to get followers that were human and would contribute new-human posted posts.

I’m thinking maybe it could be cleaned up and made more specific in what it does, and could also run on a schedule instead of 24/7. That could make it more usable for bringing in content and driving new stuff from not-bots over time as lemmy keeps growing…

Just as an FYI, as well: you can disable visibility of (self-proclaimed) bot accounts in your profile settings… But thanks for joining the community, and we look forward to creating fresh new content with you! Cheers, Loki
