So I’ve been noticing most of the cashiers at big supermarket keep asking customers to use self checkout but little do they know that these numbers are being recorded and once executive of that big supermarket see customers have learnt to use self checkout then they will get rid of cashiers and replace with the self checkout. Same goes for cashiers at Petrol station, today I went to fuel up and had an expired voucher. She gave me a discount and then immediately canceled the transaction and said the voucher is expired. At that time I was thinking she’s trying to save $2 for a trillion dollar company who’s paying her minimum wage. People should use common sense.
Is this from 2013? Self checkouts have already replaced the majority of cashier’s.
Lidl in the Netherlands has gone the other way and have scaled back the self service machines to work as express checkouts. you can only use them if you have 12 or fewer items. So now instead of having effectively 7 self service and 1 staffed checkout they have 7 express checkouts and 1 regular checkout.
Yea…there’s a reason that happened and remaining cashiers are doing dumb shit so that they become jobless
AI and machines are going to make almost everyone jobless.
