minus-squarebdonvr@thelemmy.clublinkfedilinkarrow-up2·1 year agoVery easy. https://www.makeuseof.com/boot-raspberry-pi-4-via-ssd-network/ I used to run Fedora, now openSUSE on mine.
minus-squareSnipe_AT@lemmy.atay.devlinkfedilinkarrow-up2arrow-down3·1 year agodo you use a separate power for the sad? or just leave it plugged into the raspi?
minus-squarebdonvr@thelemmy.clublinkfedilinkarrow-up2·1 year agoNo, it’s a NVMe to USB-C enclosure, with a USB-A to C cable connecting it to the Pi. No external power.
minus-squareTreczoks@kbin.sociallinkfedilinkarrow-up1·1 year agoI run ubuntu server on my RPi 4 with USB3 SSD. No issues so far, but needs a good PSU. Survived a blackout without an issue.

minus-squareTreczoks@kbin.sociallinkfedilinkarrow-up1·1 year agoNo separate power, the USB3 SSD has only one USB-C connector, and draws a maximum of 250 or 300 mA under load for its nearly one TB. As the USB port is rated for 500mA, I’m quite safe.
