But if this meme is meant to highlight a hypocrisy or inconsistency from them, I don’t think it works. Removing people’s positive rights is basically the raison d’etre for neolibs, because they only believe in negative rights. So the first panel is perfectly in line with their belief.
The second panel might at first seem inconsistent with that, and if they were protesting against the government, that’d be true. But they’re employees violating the conditions of their employment, freely entered into. And it’s very consistent with neoliberal nonsense that your employment agreement should be allowed to trump any other rights you might otherwise have.
You’re right, but I was alluding to the inconsistency between how they’re portrayed by the media and other apologists and what their ideology is ACTUALLY like rather than assert that either is inconsistent with the ideology itself.
