This is a small website, it probably can’t handle all the Reddit users migrating. How much can it take before shutting down?

I’m honestly surprised how much the fediverse has grown in the past 3 months. Reddit fucking up is the push it needed.

Federated. Each server hosting its own instance has a different limit. I’d presume the instance mods would stop allowing new members if their servers got overstrained.

Talking about different instances, are you able to read this comment I’m making to you?

Yes you should be able to comment on any community no matter where your “home” is (as long as that community/instance doesn’t have any special rules)

They shouldn’t be able to see yours either since you’re replying to mine.

Yeah, it means we can have a secret conversation about how much @[email protected] SUCKS (jk), and they won’t ever know, but non-beehaw users will be able to see our talk.

Imagine if someone made an allegation, like, “oh aren’t you that user who pooped themselves?”, just to see them not acknowledge it.

That’s why I don’t join instances that block others. I wanna see everything! 3:

Lemmy is not one single website, it’s a federation. Every instance can help share the load, and new instances can be started if needed.
