That’s the original title they published, it was renamed later.
Please let this pass in the US as well. I want apps that don’t have to send a 30% cut to Apple just for existing on their appstore, plus apps that Apple would never approve of in their high standards.

Two reasons why I’ve never entertained the idea of switching to Apple: cost and not being able to get apps from anywhere but the app store. This would eliminate one of those
And everywhere else for that matter…
Sideloading gives consumers a choice. A choice of where they want to get their apps from.
This will likely hit Apple in the US eventually, now it may not be the simplest or basically have a bunch of “Proceed at your on risk” warnings…but it’s almost for sure going to happen. The Google part is confusing…Hasn’t android had sideloading from the get go?

Yeah I’m always baffled by these articles because Android has sideloading already (and virtually no one uses it).
Yes, android has had sideloading as long as I remember without rooting. Really the entire Amazon appstore is a sideloading server. Apple sites seem to not know that Android has had some of these features forever.
If I could install something like F-droid where I know any app I download there is free and open source it would make it easy to move over from Android to iPhone.
Got sick of the apps having ads and constant subscription pestering on the appstore. I’ll at the very least use some Foss app place on my iPad.
For those wondering, Google would have to allow payment options through third party apps as well (they currently allow side loading obviously)
