    from that article :

Source: Peskov in an interview with RT Arabic, according to TASS propaganda news agency
Quote: “Indeed, Ukraine was heavily militarised at the time of the beginning of its [special military operation, as the Russian Federation calls the war against Ukraine – ed.]. And, as [Russian President Vladimir] Putin said yesterday, one of the tasks was to demilitarise Ukraine. In fact, this task is largely completed. Ukraine is using less and less of its weapons. And more and more it uses the weapons systems that Western countries supply it with.”

… so is that an excuse for the Kremlin to get the fuck out of Ukraine ?

Edit : + link of source ( in Russian )

I mean, the only way for Putin to politically survive a retreat is to convince Russians that this catastrophic failure was actually a huge success, and their sons didn’t die for nothing.

Seing them push a narrative that they have already achieved what they came there for is therefore kind of uplifting. If the Russians could leave Ukraine without losing face they would have done it months ago, and this seems to be the beginning of the effort to create such an opening.

Of course nobody in the West is going to buy it (well, almost nobody, without pointing any fingers), but much like the rest of Russian propaganda we don’t really need to either. The only limit is which lies the Russian people are willing to believe, and for once I actually want them to believe this one - or at least I want the Kremlin to believe they believe it.

If they pull out under the pretense that Ukraine has been demilitarized, and Ukraine turns around and joins NATO, they have egg on their face. Any withdraw would still have to be predicated on assurances that Ukraine won’t join NATO, from Russia’s perspective, or they won’t be able to claim success.

One has to have been living in Russia (for years) to know (or to feel the temperature) of what they will swallow from the Kremlin. Propaganda is pushed if the Kremlin believes it will be tolerated.

Putin announced two goals: demilitarization and denazification. If demilitarization is complete they will complete denazification by removing Russian Army from all the occupied territories of Ukraine. Another job well done, Putin!

My guess is that they will declare the operation a success and end further advances, but without ceding the territory that they have won so far.

It’s not super clear to me how that works out. Ukraine has been pretty stable on, “All taken territory including Crimea back,” so do we move to a world where Belgorod Bob assures the people that myths of Ukrainian advance are totally false daily?

For all I care they can even hang a large “Mission Accomplished” banner from their aircraft carrier heavy aircraft cruiser scrap-heap Kuznetsov.

So they’ve used up the old soviet weapons and now using modern western weapons.

As for supplying weapons. America is happy to. We are trying to give away tanks like they are kittens!

And can we stop giving tanks to that tank-lady that lives in the apartment down the hall? She barely takes care of the ones she has.

Lol, sorry. I was joking on the notion of giving tanks away like kittens, and how there might be a tank-lady similar to the stereotype of a cat-lady that has way too many cats.

America doesn’t ‘give away’ weapons, Ukraine will pay for them eventually, just like Israel, SK, Taiwan, and the rest always do.

They could argue is that they want to protect their IP or something. If that gives them a “win” so they leave then mission accomplished I say!

What a strange definition for demilitarization lol.

if I read that correctly and if it is true it would mean that …
the Kremlin is seeking an excuse to get the fuck out of Ukraine without losing face in front of their own population.

Yeah, when you see totally barmy stuff like this from Russian media it’s usually not particularly intended to convince people like you, it’s meant for internal consumption.

Kremlin: We have done a great job of removing all legacy equipment from the Ukrainian military

Kiev: All that old shit is in the trash and now we’ve got all this new fancy technology to shove up Putin’s ass. Bring it bitches

Kremlin: Er, ehm, that was the plan. But you cannot attack us, or it will be war. Hey NATO tell them they can’t attack us…please!

    Kiev: Slava!

Time for a photo op with Putin and a big “Миссия выполнена” banner in the background.
