Sorry, I know this question has been asked and answered a thousand times, but I’ve read about so many apps lately that I don’t remember which has plans for what.
Will Memmy eventually be compatible with Kbin?
Yes
Genuine question.
Why use kbin over Lemmy? I never looked into it much. But it seems to do the same thing but have less support.
For me, I just like the interface better, but there isn’t a whole lot of difference really
Thank you that’s a good point.
Oh, I did forget one thing Kbin does better, inline images. IMGBB, the place I keep my pics, offers copy & paste code for adding images to your blog, and the HTML works right off the bat, unlike Lemmy which requires the use of meta text
Thanks for sharing that. Well I guess this really shows the power of federation. It lets people have a choice and use what’s best for them.
I’ve signed up with a few different instances. I want to have options in case there’s a problem like a DDoS attack, server crash, power outage, crazy mods, etc.
That’s a good point. I have 2 Lemmy accounts for that reason.
@worfamerryman FediTips - “serious long-standing deep concerns about the developers” and the instances they run.
https://mstdn.social/@feditips/110476830253102884Beehaw’s statement - “we are explicitly a safe space for minorities. […] We do not have the technical expertise to create a new tool from scratch—all we can do is leverage tools that already exist”
https://beehaw.org/post/524300It looks like feditips is mostly upset with the content some users posted.
That’s a lot different than the software.
@worfamerryman Oh, looking back, FediTips was rather circumspect. It wasn’t just a matter of mods /passively/ falling short of stated policy. Bit more context here.
https://raddle.me/f/chapotraphouse/113374/say-no-thx-to-lemmyNot a rabbit hole I cared to explore, but it’s there if you’re curious. Of course, as the Beehaw statement says, the software itself can be wielded for good until something better comes along. To the extent that it and Kbin are similar, many folks take the baggage into consideration as a tie-breaker.
Thanks for sharing, but it’s also something I don’t care about. I’m using the software in my own way for what I agree with. I don’t really care what the devs opinions are.
I second this question.
For reference, you can monitor the progress here https://codeberg.org/Kbin/kbin-core/pulls/815
Until that happens we won’t actually be adding this, but as soon as it does it will come.
