    I have a handicapped relative. Wheelchairs aren’t a valid reason to use an SUV.

    A foldable wheelchair fits fine in the back of a VW group sedan or even a golf. A station wagon if you don’t want to fold it. For anything larger, there’s small vans like the Citroen Berlingo, which is infinitely more practical and far more affordable.

    SUVs are quite high, which does your back in when you’re trying to lift in the wheelchair. A relatively low loading (boot/trunk) floor is far better, especially if you need a ramp. High loading floor = longer ramp = more space needed.
