Is anything about the first landings on Australia even taught in school? Refusing to educate the population on the matter will probably continue to be a huge hurdle.

I left the country in year 5 and didn’t return until uni, so I dunno how much is taught.

But I did learn that white people first started colonising around Sydney with the First Fleet, based on discoveries by the earlier James Cook (whom I have since learnt outside of school can’t really be said to have “discovered” Australia, even for white people). And of course I was taught that Aboriginal people (I think when I was in early primary school the word “Aborigines” was still used) were already present and had been for a very long time. I don’t think I was taught anything more specific than that at a pre-year 5 level.
