Shipping lanes are unironically more important than the Gaza genocide, the global shipping industry supports billions through food and fertilizer cargo.
Obviously the US needs to stop giving weapons to a genocidal regime, but acting surprised that they’re more keen on protecting freedom of navigation just shows ignorance.
They are copying the things “the adults in the room” are saying because if you tell yourself you agree with the things that are happening in the world beyond your control, it feels less like you are powerless. I like to think its a coping mechanism for powerless people. At least i hope so, and that most of the people i see just bloodlessly and coldly disregarding human life arent doing so knowingly…
Unfortunately, there’s not much we can actually do.
It’s not so much people care more, it’s that rich people care more about losing money. Disrupted shipping costs the rich game points (aka $€£). They also have the ear, (and purse strings) of the elected officials.
I’ve been watching the shit the Israeli government etc (I try not to lump the Israeli people in with their psychos in charge) have been doing, for 20 years. I’ve yet to figure out what can actually be done to help the situation.
Speaking out is the best. Many people has been blinded by media showing Israel as: 1) legitimate state, 2) only democracy in the middle east, 3) great allies of the west, 4) only option for jew to live safely, 5) great tech and security, 6) only trying to portect itself.
Newer generation who can open wikipedia and read about it, see genocide unfolding in social media are able to learn the truth. So speaking out and educating people about past and current massacres is the best a powerleas person can do.
For example, massacres commited by Irgun and Haganah usually don’t show up when you look for massacres committed by Israel eventhough both dissolved into current IDF and the current ruling party.
These people didn’t attack only the Palestinians but also the British officials as well.
I’ve been trying. Unfortunately 20 years for no real gain gets demoralising. I’ve seen what Mossad can do first and 2nd hand. Small and peaceful groups infiltrated and disrupted. I’ve seen the footage of an aid ship being fired upon for no reason (the whole crew was on the top deck, with hands visible, as requested).
Given what I’ve seen, I fully understand what Hamas did (I don’t agree, but understand, and can’t think of a better option they should have taken).
At this point, I’m tired and jaded. If someone has a viable way to push forward a fix, I’d be up and helping, unfortunately I’m tired of spitting into the wind for no gain.
Lacking a cohesive social movement, we can only watch it play out, and educate ourselves on what needs to be done to pick up the pieces, unfortunately.
Is demanding that America stop funneling weapons to Israel a moderate stance? Because that’s what I said. Is there a specific part of my comment you take issue with or are you just gonna wave your hands and act fed up?
14.5% of global food and fertilizer shipments transited the Suez in 2018. Higher shipping cost and delays on these goods means real food insecurity problems for millions of people. It’s not just oil and plastic toys being moved through there.
So which genocide(s) do you support? Israelis genociding Gazans? Saudis and Americans genociding Houthis? Iranians, Houthi’s and Gazans genociding Israelis? Which shipping lane(s) are (un)important to your genocide of choice?

I just thought at least one of the comments on your thread should be positive. I agree with your statements :)
If we’re talking all shipping lanes you might have had a point, but just the suez? Nah absolutely not, ships can just divert.
You’re suggesting they modify shipping lanes and refueling stations to go all the way around south america instead, just at the drop of a hat?
EDIT: Africa… Whatever. Same concept.
No? Why the fuck would they go around South America to get to the Mediterranean?
Yes, as they have been doing and have done before.
Did your post land in the wrong thread?
Maybe you missed this image attached with the post.

Maybe that’s my own cope talking
It’s impossible to cut through the dissonance, they have to do that themselves. We can only make obvious the contradictions. Great name btw.
Edit: I got downvoted for encouraging people to think. The irony.
Here we have the moderate I was referring to.

Damn good comment

No, they are not. People dying is way more important than oil and consumer goods.
14.5% of global food and fertilizer shipments transited the Suez in 2018. Higher shipping cost and delays on these goods means real food insecurity problems for millions of people. It’s not just oil and plastic toys being moved through there.
Then free Palestine from Israel’s grasp, and the Houthi’s will stop. You want to stop a hypothetical genocide and allow a real one. That’s fucked up.
So which genocide(s) do you support? Israelis genociding Gazans? Saudis and Americans genociding Houthis? Iranians, Houthi’s and Gazans genociding Israelis? Which shipping lane(s) are (un)important to your genocide of choice?
All shipping lane lives matter. /s
