Hey everyone! Check out Lunar, A Lemmy client I’m making for iOS using SwiftUI
Just note that Lunar is still a very early work in progress, so it’s not available on the App Store or TestFlight just yet. But I’m actively working on it for release.
If you’re curious and want to take a peek, you can run a preview on your iPhone using a Mac and Xcode. The instructions are in the GitHub repository, so feel free to give it a try and share your thoughts!
Since I’m still learning app development, any feedback and suggestions from you would be greatly appreciated.
Lunar is an open-source project, and I’d love for you to be part of it. If you’re into coding or just want to lend a hand, let’s collaborate. Feel free to contribute ideas or raise Pull Requests to make Lunar even better.

Lmao. Lemmy users are literally being showered with apps. It’s like Christmas every day
And yet, here I am still using Lemmy with Voyager/wefwef, a web app I don’t even have to install on my phone. Works like a a charm and has a developer who is responsive and listens to it’s users.
I listen to my users :/
Dude, I hope you didn’t take it the wrong way! This wasn’t meant as a commentary on you not listening to your users but as a commentary on how great it is in the “sphere” of Lemmy apps, where user and developer are much closer and talk to each other.
I regularly try other apps for Lemmy and with the exception of Lemmur there is always a group of enthusiastic people for each app who are really invested in their favorite app getting better. I love that!
I am sure you are part of that good developer culture!
Cheers!
Lol all good. My comment was meant to be more playful than serious.
Lemmur was abandoned before the blackout even happened. Liftoff is based off the abandoned code.
And kbin over there starving smh my head
Kbin was extremely late with it’s apis
That’s why I have a lemmy account for phone browsing and a kbin account for desktop browsing
you all mtf gonna create an lemmy app in every framework and language existent, and i’m here for all it, good job, lemmy devs are the most talented, intelligent and genius people out there
The “trending” and the “explore communities” features look very useful.
My god when it rains it pours! Nice work!!
The irony of Reddit killing third party apps and Lemmys third party apps flourishing is amazing.
Appreciate it, thanks!
Looks great! Can’t wait for the TestFlight.
Have you opened a lemmy community yet so we can subscribe and get updates?
Put it up on TestFlight, and I’ll try it out.
Will do soon, I want to make sure it has some of the most basic features before I release it on testflight. At the moment you can’t even collapse comments
Looking forward to it, remind me when it’s in the App Store
Just checking on that app title in the App Store, it’s going to be tough to break through the other apps that are actually about the moon. Maybe you could consider a unique spelling or renaming for easier discoverability. “Lunar for lemmy” can work, it’s just wordier. But without a reference to lemmy, it might get buried under the existing stuff which use the word “lunar” more literally.
I agree, this was my thought too
Looks good. Any noted pros/cons vs. Memmy?
Native apps on swift are more responsive, smooth and lightweight. Memmy is built with ReactNative.
Any change this is going to work with kbin too? 👀
I’ve gotten Memmy working with (most of) my kbin magazines.
I would love to include other forum softwares within the app and make it as easy as changing the URL. Just waiting on the kbin API to be released. Hopefully it’s similar to the Lemmy API so theres less work to do on my part
AFAIK kbin doesn’t have an API yet, so a 3rd party app isn’t possible until that’s available.
Pretty sure it’s about to be released
