Im not even sure Read Dead was a troll vote. Steam awards are a popularity contest and Read Dead simply was the most popular game in its category even if it was not deserving of the award (Hogwash might be similar)

A “popularity contest” but no formal process or democracy to it; “direct democracy” is not always applicable in most cases, imho. It’s not really democratic, I think, and but instead confuses people and leads to wreckers.

Yeah I dont disagree that its a terrible system. Frankly put some games shouldnt even be allowed to be voted for . Plus a lot of the time people will just vote for the biggest name because they dont even own any of the games they vote for.

Precisely. No process and, therefore, you don’t get to the truth of the matter in regard to which is the best game or even the most popular.

I guess it just seems very… libertarian to me, you know? And I think Gabe Newell is basically a product of that sort of politics, from what I know of him. But I could be wrong.

Steam or Valve doesn’t seem to operate like most companies I am familiar with but I am not sure I like it…
