The larger scale high budget MMOs? it won’t anytime soon, not that we get any of those

But i’m sure it will be used to cut corners in whatever low effort cash grab finds a way to make use of

To the player, I don’t think a whole lot. To the developers, I think it’ll help writer’s block, provide quick and dirty placeholders for dialogue, and create concept art. I think it’ll be a useful tool for indies who are working alone without a team, but I don’t think we’ll see AI-only dialogue or anything like that. It’ll help with the more time-consuming process and allow the dev to spend more time on development rather than some aspects of content creation imo.

Can’t really speak on the development side on things. But I reckon on the user side of things, botting will get quite a bit worse. Obvious bots are already a big issue in games like FFXIV.

Issue with my own take is that, well, no money in it (yet). Training a bot takes time and money, and sure, the results can be duplicated, but until there’s a bigger push back against the cheaper, super accessible bots, that future will be kept at bay.

I didn’t read it in depth but there was an article about chatgpt playing Minecraft since Minecraft has an api that can be interacted with. Chatgpt was able to interface with it somehow and do stuff in the game.

If other games have the ability to interact with an api, you might just be able to use chat gpt to play it already.

Good point. I know there’s an early episode of dark web diaries that talks about mmo exploits and all that. I reckon we’re going to have some dangerous and some fun stories coming from that end soon.

The technology is still in its infancy, but we’re definitely going to see more interactive, realistic characters. Just look at this example of a game with ChatGPT integration.

On that same note, we’ll probably see studios pay for vocal models and use them to expand the number of voice-acted characters.
